Global travel brand Samsonite reached new heights by sending a suitcase to space showcasing the durability and quality of the Proxis suitcase.

The suitcase weighing just 4.6 pounds was launched from the Mojave Desert reaching a height of over 130,000 feet.

“At Samsonite, innovation is in our DNA,” said Nicole Adriance, Senior Director of Brand Marketing.

“Sending Proxis into space is a bold testament to our century-long commitment to durability and design. This experiment with ‘Sent Into Space’ demonstrates how our case delivers performance under the most challenging conditions, withstanding not only the rigors of Earthbound travel but also the ultimate test—space—exemplifying the remarkable balance we’ve achieved between lightweight design and rugged durability, setting a new standard in the luggage industry.” said Adriance

In order to achieve this, Samsonite utilized a stratospheric balloon to lift the Proxis Suitcase into the region of Near Space.

A self-deploying parachute deployed sending the bag back to earth while dozens of 360 degree and 4k camera captured every moment.

Once the bag returned to earth, the suitcase was intact and damage free being able to withstand the tough conditions of space.
